Background
A long-time resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, along with my wife, Shelly, and our two very poorly behaved, but adorable rescued dogs. I left the corporate world in 2013, to devote my time to building our pet care business, and to focus more on my writing. Covid has impacted our business quite a bit (like so many others), but the additional time this has provided has allowed me to spend more time writing poetry - silver linings and all that.
Qualities
Fair, honest, and trustworthy. I have a wealth of leadership experience that I feel would be helpful in this, and other roles for the Neopoet site.
Diplomacy
As a people manager for most of my career, I have developed valuable interpersonal skills I feel could benefit others when dealing with delicate matters. I have always worked with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and I have quite a bit of experience working with others to help resolve conflicts as constructively as possible.
Leadership
As a business owner, I have built a great team for our pet care business by being fair, honest and providing an environment where people feel safe contributing their thoughts and ideas - very important for developing a small business with the help of those that work with you!
Availability
Is this asking about my relationship status? LOL, just kidding! I am very interested in contributing to the Neopoet community in a more substantial way, and helping to ensure that this great site continues to be a positive and supportive environment to develop our craft.
Future Direction
I am currently in the process of learning how to self-publish poetry chapbooks of my work - page design and layout, printing, and making them available for sale on various shopping platforms. I would love to explore the possibility of having the Neopoet site provide workshops (or additional ones if I've missed some), guidance, and possibly even tools to support interested community members for these kinds of endeavors.
Alternative Role
I would be interested in contributing in other ways, such as a special projects leader or editor.
