Marlboro Man

Silly,
sad
and stupid.
Words I’d describe myself by
circa 1995.
Sympathetic
serendipitous
all come to mind.
Marlboro man
apart and alone
bought a pack once
never smoked one.
Looked cool,
I guess.
Didn’t get cancer.
Stayed in the pack
like a Marlboro man.

As

a smoker I can't help but feel some envy at your enlightenment as regards the mass marketed poison, and in this poem I have the feeling you're being more "clever" than usual--the last two lines sort of make the entire thing, although you have a picturesque description of your state of mind when you actually contemplated making that big mistake and taking a puff. You might want to elaborate on that, making it an even greater poem. Very neat

Short but to the point

I love the topics you choose to write on. Your mind seems to work and flow in a unique way. Its obvious when reading your work. Another great one... keep 'em comin!

with ali and quill

can't however reconcile the apparent disparity between "Silly, sad and stupid." and "Sympathetic serendipitous" cheers, Jess
