Rupture

Cascading down wire
I reach the pool
Filled with dripping water - and reflections of the past.

Each drop a different story of my life
A different chapter.
Of things I'd just as soon forget

My first real boyfriend.
He went off to defend our country.
I've not heard from him since.

A different drop now.
The fighting within the household
Growing up.

My first real job.
Seeing things no 17 year old should.
Such as a dead child.

The newest drop
Is that of heartache.
Of a desert love gone wrong

I set the timer
And shimmer back up
To the ledge

Detonation
Water spreads everywhere.
As I just walk away silently....

I liked this one, drops of water like pages in a book of memories. I like your "stuff"

Honest and sad, such is life. I love how you did the drops of tears (water) in the pool of events. Where does the time go? Why do bad memories burn so deep? Thanks for sharing. Great write. Patty

Water memories

what was it the nine months more or less inhabiting the warm beat of our mother the baptismal splash the first real bath this poem made me think about memories in a different way and I love water so they mixed together mixing still in even more condensed precious ways Water is so valueable one day it will be the most expensive commodity on earth just like memories amazing poem

Thanks, everyone!

You're comments are very heartwarming, and very much appreciated. Things have calmed down somewhat - I just have to learn to either let go of, or transform my hurt and anger. Maybe I'll do a dedication to someone who really matters.... Thank you all, again. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "Johnny was a chemist’s son, but Johnny is no more.
