Mere Mortal

I hear whispers, that call
to me from an unrecognized
place, luring me with words
of smooth tender, inviting pleasure.

Words that are those of a skilled
magician, softly caressing and
mesmerizing.

Leading me to a place beyond
ecstasy, ascending to a level of
euphoria,

Finally collapsing into a mound
of incomprehensible feeling.

Rising searching for that magic,
but it is not mine.

The words belong to those who
can spin, and not to mere mortals,
like me.

Hey Barbara, Congrats on the election!! This is love and passion, but for poetry from some one who is just a novice, But finds it in other real poets. wishing he could write that way. That person is me. "do as the once barren tree: flourish, and as the planted seed: rise" Jose de Diego"

Your choice of formatting really helped with the "readability" (I really should start my own dictionary!) of this work. Good message within: we're always subjected to temptation - it's what makes us human. Excellent write. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "If you've ever emptied the back of your pickup truck by driving backward really fast and slamming on the brakes, you might be a redneck" - Jeff Foxworthy Bill Engvall: "that's how we moved"

Hardcore gummi bear was eaten. Actually, I was thinking about how many people commented, and said they liked this picture. Makes me smile, so it'll stay. I must say, it captures a lot of moods.
