World or stars

I could be content

at one with this world

one with everything

as the Dalai Lama says

when he orders a hamburger

Or I could wish

pray

hope

that we might physically reach the stars

for racial survival

that big meteor is statistically

only a few millennia away

maybe less

aye there’s another classic rub

do we survive the planetary sacrifice

required

it seems

to reach the stars?

don’t ask me

heya

heya

heya

I’m just this bloke

you know?

I want the stars

I want me

and I want you too.

Has your muse crept back to you?

I just hope she did so on her knees! I enjoyed your philosophical thoughtflow here. Maybe we´re all writing because we never cease wanting something or other? Keep reaching for the stars, ID

Jess

Now there's an aypical write for you! I love the philosophical points you bring up in this piece. Well done, good food for thought. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Does Rudolph fail the safety inspection if his nose is burnt out? And where does he go? thanks all, I seem to be devoloping a bit of theme

over the last couple of years, keep returning, or trying to, to the stars. cheers, Jess "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety" Benjamin Franklin, wonder what he would think of the Patriot Act.

what a

sense of calm and ease you display here--i find it ironic that even the Dalai Lama ordering a hamburger seems like an act of Buddhistic indifference. also a sense of the desire for absolute satiation on a cosmic level--i have that frequently! not to be me in this mortal coil. awesome.

Do you ever feel

Like we aren't going to make it in time? Like that hurricane never hits hard enough, fast enough? Like we were never destined to even scratch the surface of our Earth? Like we shouldn't even be here? Oh! I liked your poem, too. It's got one of those moods that everyone has. Me, I have that mood quite frequently. We try and reach so far.

I thank you for your comments. It feels ungrateful when I don't reply. But sometimes this poet just doesn't know what to say! Except thankyou cheers, Jess "A poet's work: to name the unnameable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world and stop it going to sleep." Salman Rushdie

tit for tat?

fair enough. but look around, you will see far more of my positive feedback, even when harsh. Your spiteful, vengeful little comment was admirable defense of your friend, but what feedback does she give? "Oh, very nice dear". She gives nothing. cheers, Jess

World Of Stars

I have been following the whole 2012 doom sayers, they are just as bold as the 2000 fanatics. Mass Hysteria.. the race to Mars.. (wait a minute..hasn't NASA agreed they they have been spinning their wheels), Private Space Stations are being built. Lauch Pads in Outer Space the potential for mineral resources.. I say If by 2200 we are not colonizing the moon, it will be because we are clinging to survive on a depleted earth. To the Stars, you make a good case here for reaching to the New Frontier. Rather then "What-If'in" the worst case scenario every 75 years. In Ink, Dabbler

the only thing

that gets me about '12 is that both the Mayans and the Chinese predicted the exact same date, presumably thousands of years before the east and west were integrated... as long as you ignore the (often overlooked fact) that there were caucasian mummies dating to 10,000 years ago found in China, and rumors of Chinese explorers to the west coast of America dating 200 years before Columbus bumbled his way to the West Indies. Jess,

This is nice, very introspective, and yet cynical, almost bitter. It catches the attention. Thanks, Brian

The ants

I think the ants will still be here when we humans have long gone, the insects anyway, they are the best at adapting.I too liked the DL eating hamburgers. Just now the stars are coming down to me as its snowing those most beautiful crystals, every one different from the other, smoothing all we see into curves and strange shapes, yes I am already in the stars. I read a story about a hyperintelligent

artificial intellegence starship that had a hobby of collecting one snowflake from every planet it visited. To see is any 2 would ever be identical. I don't know why I told you that, but I liked it. cheers, Jess

i love this! not exactly

i love this! not exactly sure why, but that doesn't matter. complete comprehension isn't a precursor to enjoyment. it has a few layers to it... a philosophical edge a cynical edge a hopeful undercurrent (i think) perhaps because those things mesh together, is why i like this so much i also like the structure it sort of tumbles down the page, and takes the reader along for the ride this is one of those writes that just grow on you with each read... a little something more continues to be revealed cheers p
