A Sad State of Affairs

Believe you, me
I'm quite aware,
of what some consider
sad states of affairs.

Having tobacco when one's out of papers
a plethora of papers without tobacco,
or having both...but possessing no lighter!

Those are merely ironic circumstances,
but, I know a sad state of affairs
when I'm forced to live one,
and their stark realities can cause one to die, inside.

I have met women by sharing common interests,
similar values, and like circumstances,
but, really to no avail.

For something always impedes our progress
as a potential couple; stars out of alignment,
an age difference, religious disagreement, or
merely a difference in preferences;

and those, are true, sad states of affairs !
To survive all of these things, the stars must be completely aligned up.....
or, you must hold her "hostage"!!!

A sad state of affairs

First of all, I absolutely love your picture! You have something good here. I'm not exactly sure of how to improve it,but maybe,if you made an attempt to rhyme it,you could make it more interesting. As to making connections with women that survive,I have been with the same woman for twenty-five yrs. Married to her for nineteen. We don't see eye to eye on many things, but by tacit agreement, agree to disagree. We can't even sleep in the same bed! She tosses and turns, hitting me and I steal all the blankets, and cuddle up real close. I guess that it all depends on how passionate you are about your differences. Take care, and write some more,I will be glad to read and comment on your work anytime. Gee.

Hey, Gee....

...thanks for the nice comment. I've been writing "Western Classic" rhyming poetry, of late...however, my mentor weird elf thinks I write better "Freeform"....so, I threw one in. Please read my poem, "Without"...and let me know what you think of that one. I'd sure appreciate it, sir. "Write On !" #{:>{)}@==== docmaverick.
