What is truly funny is the fact that over there >>> with the Google ads, are a shit-ton of links for eating disorders and such now! Absolutely loved the last stanza, even though advertisers is missing its apostrophe. Dear Lenny,

There is the start of good poem here. But anorexia is about self cannibalism and worthlessness. It goes deep into the brain and is extraordinarily hard to excise. Men hate it in part because the symbolism is against procreation (many anorexic women drop to a weight that will not sustain menstruation), which in turn is somehow a vote against men, while seeming to appear to meet the norm for attractive meat - but that norm has been established on the Paris runways by predominantly gay designers looking for women with boyish looks. So the norm is not a female norm or a norm that men truly can accommodate. Again, this is the beginning of a poem. But it is an immensely important topic and you have courageously ventured forth. I hope you will not find this comment off putting and I do hope you will write more. Brian

No Sweat!

Where I live, Liverpool, England, many of the women and schoolgirls are alarmingly thin; it is repugnant. This obsession with size zero contributes to major health concerns, emotionally and physically as well as psychologically. I am in partial agreement with your comments regarding Paris catwalks and gay designers, but I feel that it goes much deeper than this. We have the fashion magazines, the PR people(plus the media in general - ie they also contributed to the cult of celebrity), advertising companies, parents, family members and friends - and the poor girl who swallows this vile pill. This is just the tip of the iceberg, sadly we are guilty of contributing to the current state of the world. I also speak as a parent of a 14 yr old girl, who fortunately pays no attention to such obscene fashion trends; I am glad to say that I have helped my daughter steer clear of such minefields! She is an individual who decides how she dresses and what music she listens to, and this is a huge relief to me. A friend of mine has an 11 yr old daughter who watches MTV, which in my opinion is a soft porn channel, and she is heavily influenced by the likes of Britney Spears and others like her. I have spoken to her about the content of these singers lyrics and how they dress - like prostitutes! I have spoken to her father too and thankfully it was received in the spirit it was meant. He is getting rid of the television! Which we also did some 8 months ago. I can recommend getting shut of that poisonous box! Sorry for rambling on........! Namaste, Lenny
