Mother’s Cancer

Mother's Cancer

Cancer is a frightful illness
It took away our mother's smile
A shot of chemo, a pill for nausea
She hoped to get a few more years
Of quality time with her family

In a crowded hospital room
Her kids and grand-kids sat by her side
With sad faces, deep in thought
They were hopeful the meds would work
And mother be well again

Cancer is never discriminative
It attacks the young and old alike
It touches every color of the rainbow
Taking away a joyous glow
Mother use to boast

In five minutes the clock will strike three
The third watch of the night is upon me
My burning eyes long for sleep
As I rest upon my comfy pillow

Barbara, so sorry to hear that.

I understand the pain and loss you are going through. Though it has been years now, I lost my mother to Cancer also. You have my sympathies and, of course, my love. So sorry my friend.
