Your first stanza was quite remarkable as well as the rest of this poem, but you are being hard on yourself, you are a beautiful person! but I am not, so I connected with this piece very easily. Richard

As it is - you are speaking to the converted, but I can't help wander what is it about our generation that venerates nothing, abides little and denigrates what little remains! Excellent write though Nina. My favourite line are "Give me a relentless mirror" (are you so sure you would want this?) and the one that I would prefer changed: "Do not attempt to slay my wall of Roses". Don't you see the benefit in the concept of "Clipping"/"cutting" even "sawing" - but a definite use of a word to express the physical removal of the roses.... Just my thoughts on the matter! The obliteration of the fairytale motif. I tend to have a soft spot for 'dark' poetry, and this certainly seems to hit that mark. The composition is quite solid too, leading to balanced pacing. The last stanza wraps up the poem wonderfully. My favorite lines: "Give me a relentless mirror one that does not answer Thou when I ask who is the most beautiful"

This tought for how much deeper does the well of sorrows goes and how easily we humans are fooled by those who out weigh are thought prossces by 2 to the tenth power I have read every little in my life time a fact of life for those who find it hard or those who relate to deeply, I am glad you are not the "I" in this poem those damn talking mirrors scare me. I think I was about eight when and older girl did the Bloody Mary trick! on me every since then I won't stare at any mirror in the Dark it scared the Hell right out of me Baby. I don't mess with Devil shit anymore nor do I endorse any of it I have seen way to many weird, weird, things in my days but, up in the girls attic in the dark with that mirror that still takes the cake. aught augh, no way ever again No way! Nina, I love this piece, it seems to exude (it's late I hope that is the right word?) great strength and is cleverly crafted.
