LIGHT YEARS APART

We are the stuff that stars
are made of
burning bright the life this
light it gave us

Scattered near and
far like any known or distant
star .

On the spiral arms of our own
galaxy illuminates our earth
But how we yearn to leave
to explore if another earth
was conceived

How we look and wonder at the
possibility's we ponder

Our sun it is our nearest star
and it is part of who we are .

Shows me a lot of promise!

I'm not familiar with much of your work, but this seems an indication of talent indeed! I enjoyed the theme, and the imagery was quite good! Could use a little more work, perhaps!

on spiral arms...

ahh, one of my favorite subjects on a cold night, out on the balcony with a good friend and a bottle of wine... I love your first two lines, you capture your reader right away. the read throughout the poem was smooth and the flow seems gentle somehow, I can't really explain what I mean, it's just a feeling I got out of it. my boyfriend once drew me a map of what's out there, all the stars and planets, then the boundaries of our galaxy, then that which can be found behind it and it seems that, from a theoretical point of view, there is no chance of another planet with life on it, too many coincidences have formed our earth (no wonder so many people believe in god.)and the chances are even slimmer if you're looking for life as developed as ours I had such a hard time taking that fact in that I simply didn't :) a big hooray for denial! I choose to wonder and your poem really touched me. thank you for posting this! your Proprietress
