A Gothic Valentine

A bloated moon was hanging low
in a somber sky
making shadows seem to grow
and unseen horrors fly

The graveyard gate was thick with rust
and made an evil sound
as I kicked it in the dust
and entered Hallowed ground

Gnarled and twisted limbs were creaking
as I walked within
like demon voices shrilly shrieking
evil words of sin

The sepulchur loomed up ahead
its doorway gaping wide
a mouth that swallows up the dead
digesting them inside

I tore the coffin lid away
and there before my eye
the love of all my life still lay
a love that would not die

My hands caressed her morbid charms
my lips sought hers in bliss
and wrapping me in loving arms
she killed me with a kiss

Thank you very much!

This means a great deal to me because my poems usually aren't received that well by younger people! Thanks for taking time to read and comment!

A twister this?

I started off thinking this was sombre, but then as I read on it seemed like it was a love poem, yes? Rosina xena465

Thanks Rosina!

I suppose it could be considered a dark, tongue-in-cheek, type Love Poem! I'm not sure that's what I had in mind when I wrote it though!

unbelievable Good heavens this is outstanding. A chill ran through me at reading the last stanza. Geesh Not one word or beat out of place. Each time I think you've reached your max , you pull or should I say summon another one to top the last. Chrys

Dad

Where's Kelsey? She'd love this! The part about removing the coffin lid was just plain creepy, and flashed on a scene in Dracula. Well done. ~Jess K. ----------------------- "Life is the sun, and the show must go on and on; make it come true. Life is the sun, and the road goes on and on; paint this song any colour but blue." - Don Ross

Thank you, Daughter Dear!

I believe you're right, Kelsey probably would like this, but she hasn't been around much lately! Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and that it gave you a goosebump or two!
