GESTALT THOUGHTS

It's 1:58am

Too tardy
but
I'm reaching for the
tin can communincation
             - the phone

Did Alexander Graham Bell
realise the catastrophies
and triumphs his invention
would create?

Creates  regular rich
tapestries in my
life-

My current swain's
Nokia
screams its message
"Read me!"
"Read me!"

The miscellany  thoughts
jumbled together
creates a
Gestalt experiment-

sex,   work,  tax,   message,
 work,     home,   distance,    home, message
tax,    debt,    work,    oral sex,    man,  message

I realise he's
missing me-

Trying to make
sense of his
own inventory-

His patterns
making kaleidoscope
paradigms

I find your view point most interesting. Especially in the way you have expressed it. Always, Cat

I'd love to witness Alexander Graham Bell's reaction to how much his invention has evololved. Phone's...it's hard to live with them sometimes, but harder to live without them. Love how this poem say's it all. Rosina xena465

I can remember a time before...

Mobile phones. Now I'm never more than a foot away from one and I'm developing my opposable thumb technique! But it's also a powerful tool for communication...creates tapestries in one's life. Ells x

Ellie,

I adore the concept of this poem. What would Bell think indeed? I am terribly sorry, but I just don't get why everyone is so fascinated with the word "Gestalt". I think you are using it in a sense that is related to Gestalttherapie here, and I understand what you are getting at, but for me "Gestalt" always brings the lines from Goethe's Erlkönig with it: "Ich liebe dich, mich reizt deine schöne Gestalt/und bist du nicht willig so brauch ich Gewalt". Probably just my own dorky problem though... Yours, ~Nina

Thanks Nina

As humans we are programmed to try to find patterns of behaviour for safety...we are much more restrictive and less adventurous than we like to think...order from chaos is calming. Random thoughts are surprisingly more catagorised than we at first recognise. My thoughts upon receiving a text message say, encapsulte a myriad of previous thoughts crowding into my responses within split seconds of reading...I just applied Gestalts' theory as an interesting test. loved it!

I found myself laughing as I nodded in recognition. Very perceptive, with some zingers of lines: "Did Alexander Graham Bell realize the catastrophies and triumphs his invention would create?" "my current swain's Nokia screams its message: Read me! Read me!" Technology- yet another symbol under which we live in subjugation. Hugs, Jhena

This reads so well. You’re

This reads so well. You're choice of vocabulary is spot on. I'd never heard of "gesalt" before. It's always nice when i get to learn new words. This is unique.

Thank you JT

I was playing with a a theory about how , as humans we organise our thoughts...and linked some ideas about my phone...which constantly mixes up my thoughts on many different levels with a myriad of people...lovers, students, family, work, government agencies... Glad it worked for you. Ells x
