Fly By Night (and Morning Light)

It seemed intrigued or… in search
I wondered what it saw, what it could be looking for, company?
I was here.
It rested upon my shoulder, though it seemed frightened by my watching.
I was
just intrigued by its red eyes, its multi-faceted view, exploratory feet, its dexterity, efficiency, its vascular transparent wings, its electric tongue, its simplicity.
It moves with conviction and confusion. It reads
And rests momentarily on the tablecloth.
Makes its next move on my arm. Hands rubbing, hinting at deception, anticipation.
It feasts on my coconut residue.
It rests upon my hand as
it feasts upon my coconut residue.
It thinks therefore it is…
It lives
Beyond my understanding
It allows me to dream about what it knows
It used to know, what it wants to know, what it can’t and never will know

And why s/he flies alone
So early in the morning… xxoo

Damo...

A true celebration, I can't say that I often look at a fly that way... but I have. Thanks for putting it on paper for us to see, totally enjoyed this read. Richard
