Will we remember Neda next year?

A model criesA rock star singsA bloody video on YouTubeMuch attention that it brings  After the rain has fallenWhen the blood has washed awayWill we remember her tomorrow? Will we remember the next day?  Will we remember her in ten years? Will we remember her in five? Will we remember even next year? Will our voice still be alive?  For all the protests that were endedAnd the rallies that were bannedThe greatest danger to her memoryIs our short attention span  For all the sadness that we feel nowAnd the anger that we ventThe best way we can honor herIs that we don't forget

Hi Michael...

An important write, thanks for posting. I think maybe the last verse is unneeded, felt it really states the same thing as the third verse, but the third one(for me) states it with much more power... just me probably though. hope all is well with you Richard

That is a common criticism that I get about my poetry.

Hi Richard, Thank you for your comment. That is often a criticism that I receive of my poetry. Often when I go to the poetry workshop at my library they tell me exactly the same thing. They usually say that I should delete the last stanza of the poem. In fact, I'm going to the workshop tomorrow, and I'm bringing this poem with me. I wouldn't be surprised if they make exactly the same comment that you did. Michael
