GRACE UNDER FIRE

I'm turning off the familiar route
it's an uncomfortable feeling
i'm lost

My life is like that-roads taken
off the predicted plan
leading to a
Cul-de-sac
of incoming
flak

But I can't see the road ahead
clearly enough
my tears drip silently
splash over lashes
noiselessly and stealthily

No one knows this
is my usual route home

And no one cares-
no one bothers to ask
like a magician's
slight of hand
I mask
my dark well

Car wipers clear
the screen ahead
but the misty veil
of tears still
obscures my view

I try to regain my
grace under
fiery depression

How am I ever going to
find my way home now?
