QUISLING
I sit opposite
the face of a child
so exquisite
my heart breaks
to touch it
But that cannot be
for I am a mentor
and trusted
guide
to do so
would be taboo
But it's his face
I see in the curve of
her chin
turn of her nose
flutter of her eye
She's my friend
'my greatest foe
is my greatest love'
She asks for council
I give it
she asks for truth
I withhold it
for the Quisling
inside me
weeps
rages
brokenhearted
at the irony
I teach your
child
it could have been
ours
the face of a child
so exquisite
my heart breaks
to touch it
But that cannot be
for I am a mentor
and trusted
guide
to do so
would be taboo
But it's his face
I see in the curve of
her chin
turn of her nose
flutter of her eye
She's my friend
'my greatest foe
is my greatest love'
She asks for council
I give it
she asks for truth
I withhold it
for the Quisling
inside me
weeps
rages
brokenhearted
at the irony
I teach your
child
it could have been
ours
