PATAGONIA LOST

In many ways I’ve left behind the dreams and loves
I cherished most, and yet as years go by the word
adios still binds me to the coos of turtledoves;
the glare of Austral skies, where a circling bird

swoops to snatch a creature fleeing in the brush.
Of trails Tehuelches stalked in bygone days,
nomad’s camps safe from modern rush;
before winka sliced the steppes with railways

Someone Critiqued My Poem. What next?

Forums

A good rule of thumb when your work is critiqued is to acknowledge the person. This does not mean you need to implement their advice, just let them know you appreciate the review and ideas.

But what if you don't appreciate the review and ideas?

Lie.

Seriously, thanking someone for taking the time to review and comment on your work will encourage them to review and comment on your work. You never have to take any suggestion or implement any changes, or modify a single word. But you should let them know that you view their time as valuable.

Preferred Forms

Forums

Having little more to do lately I've been sitting around thinking. (I know this ability likely come as a shock lol). Well, one thing I've been thinking about is how everybody has a favorite form of poetry they prefer writing in. My favorite is structured rhyme, although I sometimes venture into almost all forms.
Now why is it that this is my preferred form? Perhaps it's that I'm not only kinda old but also a bit old fashioned. Or it might be I enjoy the challenge of attempting rhymes which seem to fall naturally. But that's enough about me.

Lang Leav

Forums

What are your thoughts on Lang Leav's poems? I have read a few of them and I have to admit they are beautiful and can really touch the heart. I have nothing against her, so don't get me wrong please, but some of my college classmates (literature majors) scorn upon her work and they don't consider it a poetry at all.

Unfinished Poetry

Forums

I suspect you are all like me in one respect. You have a number of poems which are well begun then left unfinished for lack of figuring out where the poem should go. Anybody interested in a near future workshop to help deal with these unfinished poems?
