Background
I am a 65 yr. old man from South Carolina USA. Married to high school sweetheart (Susan) with 2 grown sons. I am a self employed builder and attended Clemson University for 2 years before dropping out to start my own business. I have served in all positions from board member to president for a not for profit corporation before. My computer skills are minimal. I have always been willing to listen to all advice but in the end base decisions on what I think is right. I am not fool enough to think I am always right though.
I have also served as an AC member here at Neopoet in the past and have run some workshops. I am also currently the Contest director. I've been a Neopoet member for about 9 years.
I am accepting this nomination in hopes that one of the current AC members might be due a bit of time off, not because I think they've done a bad job......................stan

Qualities
I pride myself on being able to see both sides to most conflicts. Since my temper is so bad I seldom let it out. I also think my being a relative new comer to the site may keep me from letting old issues cloud my judgment. Also being an owner of a construction company I am always in the position of teaching workers various skills and also educating clients in what is and is not possible,

Diplomacy
I am no trained diplomat, but do believe most conflicts can be resolved if all parties are willing to listen and practice restraint.
Leadership
I own my own company and have served as president of a public not for profit company in the past. I have also been drafted as a workshop leader here at Neopoet. I also implemented and am current director of contests. In the past as an AC member I have been willing to make some tough decisions for the sake of this site. I have not run for AC for a few years as I thought it best if others had a turn as AC members but figure it's time to give ya'll a renewed chance to fuss at Me for a change lol.
Availability
I am available for a couple of hours each evening most of the time and can schedule in other time on a limited basis as needed. Being now retired I have more time than in the past.
Future Direction
I think Neopoet needs to maintain its focus on bringing a wide variety of writers together in an atmosphere where all who want to give or receive help can give and get it. I think the main challenges are growing membership while also maintaining a friendly workshop environment. I am looking forward to Neo going public soon. I have noticed a great deal of improvement in civility between everybody lately and hope this is a trend which continues.
