The girl who married a tree

I read it in a newspaper
Many years ago
A marriage ceremony with a massive oak

The girl looked happy as can be
She wasn't simple folk
But yet she did request
A marriage with a tree
Wanted to spend her life in simple harmony

With a leafy green oak because she loved it so
Strange I thought
But she had sought
and with it she did go

And now I hear that this girl who married an oak tree
is very very happy, as happy as can be
The tree doesn,t cheat, the tree does't lie
The tree doesnt flirt or run off

The tree is as faithful as trees can be
Yes you are right we need to kiss trees
Perhaps like her we should marry these
They are solid and steady as oak

A message from Barking mad where we have a splinter group very interested in the repercussions of Elvis's Wooden heart song.
I suppose any offcuts as they should be called would be just a chip off the old block, and probably avid readers of that kindling machine.

Yeah, but those old oaks spread their pollen everywhere lol. Hmmm...........'course I know quite a few old Men who do the same. line 4 might want to change can to could. But this poem brought a smile to an old bald guy.............stan

forgive me

I've suddenly contracted a case of the sillies
Why a tree is better than a man
1. they always have "wood"
2. they might leaf but they'll never leave
3. they never hog the conversation
4.you can climb all over them and they don't get the wrong idea
5. they are patient
6. they don't mind if You hog the blanket
7. you don't have to worry about them running around
8. they may go bald but they recover each spring
9. They are upright solid citizens
!0. You can crush their nuts with a hammer and they don't mind
..................OK it's out of my system now lol.........stan

what is remarkable about oaks

apart from spreading pollen(equivalent to human males...) freely...
they have a bigishhhhh girth tooo
and as Stan says
the wood is always understood...
it always stands
not funny
but marrying a tree is
