Acronyms it seems to me
are now the language of the day.
IDK and BRB,
what the hell did I just say?

I see young people here in town
with calloused thumbs and finger tips.
Their eyes flash up but usually down,
not one word passes stony lips.

Those thumbs fly then they look up.
Across the way somebody smiles
(perhaps the're making plans to sup)
it's not like they're apart by miles.

They're on a phone why don't they Talk?
Might they have forgotten how?
At verbal exchanges they now balk,
technology's their sacred cow.

Perhaps in future's poetry
acronyms will invade with their spell.
You'll never see such verse from me
LOL

I have to use abbreviations even at work when we enter information on to our system, no wonder my grammar is so bad!!!! Right Wesley?

I recall a story from a few years ago. There was a guy who worked on refurbishing used cars for resale. His boss insisted that causes as well as problem be written up and that abbreviations be used whenever possible. One day a report came in dealing with how an unsecured jack had damaged trunk's carpet. It said "Jack ass. in back damag. carpet.............................................stan

Some of

the short hand we use at work to enter updates into the system is crazy. Everyone has their own way of doing it too so it gets so confusing. You have to be able to translate. LOL
