Al
Not my fault, the AC has made the rule that any poem that doesn't get two comments is put in the Un-Discovered list.
I was wandering as I do, through there and just put a few comments on some of the poems from four years ago.
Not really my idea to go back four years, as I said to Jess if any of my pieces don't get comments after 7 days I Un-publish them.
Me I am so tired of the stream that asks for poems and says that poets of Neopoet should comment, well I wonder where they are?
I have seen poets streaming poems day after day and mine must be so bad that they can't be bothered damn I sound bitter lol, maybe I need a rest from this site again.
Take care Al I hope your old poem wasn't that bad..
Yours Ian.T

who cares if the AC
who cares if the AC arbitrarily changed the criteria for a list...it's still just a list.
The increased number of poems on the undiscovered list doesn't mean anything
other than people don't comment on some poems. That is just the nature of things
Why try to shorten it . Let it be. Nothing will change by keeping it short by artificial means. Some poems are stillborn. let them rest in peace...(though they are still available for anyone who wants to read them).
I see no on going tragedy...stop trying to herd cats (I mean poets)
and that's my opinion out loud,

The idea, whatever it's shortcomings in realisation, Al
was to improve the level of feedback for everyone. The concept was that one comment is not enough feedback for a workshop environment. Yes, it blew the Undiscovered list out to over 20 pages, no-one anticipated that, and I've been working to bring it back to manageable size sometimes only leaving '.' as a comment. Some poems went on the list because comments left by members who have left disappeared.
It's transition pains for an idea that I think is basically sound.
The reason it needs to be shortened is so that it is a motivator to have a look at poems that might be great, or could be, but have just been overlooked. That's what the list is for.
So I apologise for my '.' comments on poems over a year old but I simply can not come up with valid feedback on that many poems unless every member pitched in and helped. I've asked for help. I will continue to do it until the list is short enough to not be overwhelming and can fulfil its intended function.
Notice also that even the '.' comments have brought poems back to attention and in some cases given them a new lease of life.

I LIKE THE IDEA
but are we allowed to just use abreviations also....I used to do sales.. comments are like critiques.evaluations...it bumps it ahead..but no comment effort put in is not a positive nor negative about the work...i like how two comments can bump a work from undiscovered though...that is good..
lately im working my way through it...

"allowed"?
Do we have rules now? [grins]
As I said to Al, I'm only putting in those '.' comments to bump old poems off the list and make it more inviting to members to check for poems, especially by newcomers, that may have been overlooked.

I am left speechless that the list got that long in such a short time. I got a bit of feedback not long ago in which I was told by another member that he doesn't comment on most of my poems because he sees nothing to improve on.Perhaps he and others have been told too many times to critique not comment. It's Not wrong to let a writer know you visited a poem without leaving a critique.

It is nice to get praise
On the other hand we now have hits per poem stats for that purpose.

Only on your own poems
and only if you are a Premium member,
they are on the right in a box called statistics.

Got a point there!
Our Poems are like plans!
or sculptures
Maybe because I worked in art
art room..painting sketching
clay work...we could walk about
and go..Hmm quietly or silent
or say..Hey thats good
the pat on the shoulder
because some of this is good
and needs not to be changed
or Maybe the comment to
tweak something
advice that its not good gives
no direction
just personal and cold
whereupon words
and working the plan
like carpenters or designers
huddled about their babies
work with other designers
and isnt that what we do
Design our Poems
streamline or vamp them
up...quiet them down
to flow in a slipstream
of consciousness
or bounce jaunty
and haughty!!!

well put sir,
that sense of sharing the process is part of the irresistible appeal of Neopoet.
