REPLY from the LASSIES By Ian Thomson
Now, girls, let's take a closer look at what the fates have brought us;
Such a motley bunch of males, they think they're great.
That advert on the telly is the one that should have taught us;
We should have gone to Specsavers - Too Late !!
They sit there slurping whisky and keep ogling waitress' bosoms,
With their noses like yon reindeer, bright and red,
And once the drams are flowing, they expect that you will choose them
Like a filmstar to be welcomed to your bed.
Let me close by saying you are men and hardly worth the keeping
Compared to Rabbie Burns you all fall flat.
The Bard could break a woman's heart with words that started weeping
But you lot wouldn't know just where to start.
So here we are, another year, let's hope that it's a good one
I've said all that I want not seriously
Ladies rise and toast the men, Our silver haired companions.
They need some looking after you'll agree.

Hello Tam,
Let me just say that I found myself thinking "Burns" at the first lines, before I ever read the rest, or the comments after. So much so that I found myself wanting to read Scots, instead of English!
Most very well done.
I particularly enjoy the cadence, which would stand well on any Burns' Night. And of course, the subject matter is marvelous.
