Abiding Hope
I stopped drifting
the moment she asked,
"are you ready to come home yet?
It had been thirty three years
since our separation
how could a man not respond to that!

lovedly

were you not drunk
in your musical life
and
had to be given an invite
I marvel her for having waited
33 years only
she could have longer
but she couldn't stay more years away
hope you did not disappoint her that day
sing a flaming song for her
your lovey dovey
may be
I wonder if you know me
have you ever read
lovedly
like you
not much like an swinging apple

I did not disappoint her, or
I did not disappoint her, or myself
we did reunite
It felt as natural as when first meeting
Unfortunately, she died just a year and a half later
