ESKER'S DIRGE

Up north where the wild wolves dwell
he sat before the lit up screen
typing words that would impel
one to think beyond what's seen.

Whenever his writes were read
best you had your wits turned on
just to kin the things he said
when his imagery was drawn.

Unlike simple scribes like me
his writes had depth beyond the words
in a rare type of poetry
which sang as clearly as mute birds.

So farewell my true poet
I hope you thought me a true friend.
Your poetry lives on I know it
but we'll not see your likes again.

About This Poem

Last Few Words: Like most who excel in their field we likely didn't fully appreciate Esker's talent until now when he's gone. May the ink still flow for you my friend where ever you are........stan

Stan,

A nice dedication, it's just a shame he doesn't know about
it, or at least there is no way for us to know if the dead can
interact.
He will be missed, it already feels like a bookend fell off
the shelf and broke into a thousand pieces ...

peace is the way

Yeah.

I almost always read his stuff but usually didn't have time to really READ it.

I'm sure that...

if there is an after-life, that he is busy writing for the gods. They have used him here for so long, that I can't conceive of them not using him when he is right there!
I think that if indeed, there are interactions with those that have passed on, that he would be very pleased with your offering Stan. I think that he was happy any time that he reached out and connected with any of us. I will point out, that you have one [as] too many in the next to last quatrain. ~ Gee.

very true

Esker has been much on my mind lately. He certainly was a most unique voice, in both poems and critics which merged into one work; poetry was his world.

He

Was always kind in his comments but still managed to make very useful suggestions. Plus, although his poems seldom gathered a lot of comment, he never complained about it

Thank you Stan

For this piece for our Steve.
He left us, as there was a Super moon in the skies.
I see him on a bluff head raised talking to the moon.
Mr Wolf we will miss you so but your words will remain.
The spirit world has gained a beautiful writer.
Poets here will one day realise what they had
In his works he was second to none a special style.
Speed well young Wolf seek out your reward. There is a special place for you here in our hearts and there.
In the place of unconditional love, you wait for us.
We will call your name..

Stan

I am going to copy all of his works from Neopoet before they are lost I have completed 2017, but it will take a few days as one year a day I can copy to word.
Later I shall find out who there is that will need a copy as some of his family and send them a copy.
It will be a privilege to do such a task and I know that he will help me.
Take care out there and know we walk the same pathway.
Yours as always Ian..
PS:-
I wonder if Joe's works are still here some place as it would be good to have a book of his works??

Dear Jayne

I think that Joe made a beut pathway for Esker, Richard who co-wrote some of his last pieces never came back on line.
There is no way we can find out unless there are some that knew him, I have his home address here some place but wouldn't like to write as the reason for no more poetry is probably that he has left us here.
Take care My Jaughter will talk later, Yours Ian. Da xx

Hey Bro

What can I say it's an awesome tribute to Steven. He was the most amazing talent I've ever known personally. If only. He should be read and pondered on long after we are gone. He was the inspiration that made me want to be a better poet and write free verse. If anyone had a hand in the type of free verse I write. It's him.

I'm writing a tribute. It's been hard to get it done as I turn into floods everytime my fingers hit the keys.

We will all see him again I like to believe

He's now writing in the stars. Imagine the imagery sigh
