RETURN ON INVESTMENT

I hear people say religion always has a cost
and that they'd rather not pay
with the time that they had lost
for sending evil on its way.

I just let them rattle on
usually keeping my own counsel
but with every rising dawn
I recall what they try to sell.

For believing costs so little
and returns so much to me
what does it gain them to belittle
that which could be theirs for free.

Thank you...

for bringing back a thought that has lived in the back of my mind for a long time. I intend to write a poem about it, but it is a shy idea and wants to be sure of how it presents itself. I really want to see the finished work here, so I can coax my thought to the fore. ~ Gee.

Hi Geez

Appreciate the visit. You know, it costs nothing to believe but it might well cost everything to not do so. Still unhappy with this poem and will return to it in a day or two with an edit

I believe,

I believe every man has free thought, and i choose to differ from others. And no one should preach at others because they differ in thought. Regards Roscoe...

Hi Roscoe

I completely endorse your right to believe or disbelieve as you choose. I think if you look this poem over you'll not find a single verse telling you to believe as I do. This poem merely states My belief.....stan

I do believe...

that Roscoe was just commenting on the right to believe what you will, not the poem's content. ~ Gee.
