Happiness
Happiness
The wind whispering in the pines
dandelions and four-leafed clovers.
Light summer evenings
when the heat is over
a pair of swallows on their way to nest
I love them best.
And your hand in mine
with the burnished wedding-ring.
Us two alone
enjoying the breeze
I cannot imagine anything more fine.
My world is at ease.
About This Poem
Last Few Words: I wrote this poem sometime after my husband died. He was my second husband and we really got on well until he succumbed to vascular dementia. We travelled a lot together, as well as with my son, the one who died of ALS aged 29 years. He was more a father to him than a stepfather. I cared for him at home, with assistance, for about 7 years. Then I got Fibromyalgia and was forced to put him in a nursing home. He was a physician and much loved, several patients helped pay for the cost of the home.
Style/Type: Free verse

Thank you, Jerry. Glad my poem radiates contentment, it was so. Yes, I only have one daughter and two grandsons, but they're wonderful and I certainly hope I'll be the next to go, if it must be. Not ready, but no more tragedies, please God.
You take care also, Jerry.

Thanks for your nice comments
Thanks for your nice comments, lovedly. Yes, having grandkids is always a pleasure. Mine are talented musicians. Today is Rodrigo's birthday. We planned to fly over to Buenos Aires, but that's been cancelled until further notice. He celebrated it at home with his girlfriend, as they live together. They shared a short video on Facebook.
All the best!

Or the hearts of sheep, and the wind
Pours by like destiny, bending
Everything in one direction."
