YOUR BEST

PTSD

PTSD

Distance makes the heart grow fonder,
But don't allow your memories to haze
and have you painting a pretty portrait of minds wonder
Leaving you trapped in a maze.

Allow your heart to heal,
allow your mind some peace after this ordeal.

You’ve come so far from who you once had become,
don’t let your mind slip and come undone

Powerful resilience in inside you, it will be there till the end
but you have to stop living in the past my friend.
As time goes on you will mature
And let go of the abuse you endured.

Then you will learn to be content and free,
Even find happiness in the smallest of things,
Like sitting under an oak tree.

Your title...

could be better, I have seen it used a number of times. As to the rest, I like the theme, the thoughts flow well and I only see one typo. Line 9 should be [is] instead of in. I note that you understand the concept of near rhyme and I like that too. Now, this is probably just me, but, I know that there are those that do not pay much attention to rhythm and as long as it says what they want it to, it's good. Myself, I like more pattern and rhythm. Do not take this as a harsh critique. You don't have to please anyone here as long as it isn't in a workshop. We make suggestions and hope that we are helpful; other than that, you are free to use or not, anything that we say. Welcome to Neo. We hope you enjoy our family of poets and have a great time. ~ Geezer.
