The Boy and the Candy Bar

He found a penny
on the floor,
and took it to
the grocery store.

He tried to buy
a candy bar,
but one small cent
won't go that far.

He looked beneath
a shopping cart -
another penny!
That's a start!

But two small cents
still won't suffice.
To find more pennies
would be nice.

He looked around
gumball machines,
the rack that holds
cheap magazines,

the deli counter,
the stand with flowers,
he searched and rummaged
two full hours!

Worn and weary
he finally knew,
his five dollar bill
would have to do.

Moral to the story, here?
By, Jove, yes! There is, indeed!
We may not trouble to look too far
to see that we have all we need.

Hi, Lavender Lady;

I envisioned that huge field of lavender in France I saw on TV the other day and thought of you and your beautiful poetry. Both, you and that Lavender field, are awesome. But your poetry is . . . magnifique. JerryK/van .
