A Heavy Heart

These odd-numbered years
seem to have a strange way,
of dealing me cards
that a "shark" couldn't play.

But, odd doesn't come close
to what the even years do,
they can take your worse nightmare
and then, make it come true.

Now, I've been around
nearly sixty years,
and all "time" has accomplished
is to validate my fears.

I've spent some good terms, alone
I've been also, "paired up",
and, I can't rightly say
that, I preferr either "cup";

both were too bitter
and, at times were too sweet,
ending up in, switched places
made the "cycle", complete.

We all carry "baggage"
to let it go would be, smart,
because every "ghost", of a feeling
enjoys haunting a heavy heart.

hi Doc

Yep it seems both good and bad times come in cycles. Be nice if they'd level out. You might consider dropping some of the commas that seem unneeded..............scribbler
