Background
I'm a 49-year-old, very married (heehee) father of three who lives in Northwest Indiana, the USA, right next to Chicago. I program computers and provide front-line technical support for a large distribution warehouse. I have been writing poetry for a long time, writing good poetry since I first came to Neopoet.
Qualities
I bring impartiality, approachability, a willingness to compromise when neccessary. I like to get the task at hand finished before starting the next one. I am not interested in blame, when things go wrong, I want to get the problem solved, and move on.
Diplomacy
I speak my mind. I have my own views on things. However, It is often neccessary to negotiate, persuade and compromise, all of which I do well. When a decision is made on a particular subject, I support the decision, until time or experience proves that a new decision should be made. I try to be diplomatic, impartial, friendly, and thoughtful towards everyone. I do not always succeed, but I try
Leadership
I rate my leadership skills as above average. In my line of work I have many people who defer to my knowledge and experience, and often look to me for decisions that can have a serious effect on the quality of our work.
Availability
If elected, I intend to represent all members of Neopoet. I am available most mornings from 1:00 AM until 4:00 AM CST weekdays, and all Saturday, usually. But my time is very flexible!
Future Direction
I wish to see Neopoet re-launched successfully. This will be my main agenda during the 90-day tenure of this first AEC, if I am elected. There are some secondary issues that need to be addressed as well beyond the re-launch, I know, but the re-launch is the most important, imo.
I wish to see Neopoet become the premiere poetry workshop environment on the Internet.
What sets Neopoet apart, imo, is the quality of the poets in the membership, and the honest commitment of many of them to help others improve their poetry - as they did for me. It is important to me that Neopoet not become a completely "social" site, with members simply here for praise, egoism and self-agrandizement, and no other reason.
The greatest area in which we need improvement is honest criticism of submitted work, more formality in terms of government, and less acronimity between members. We also need to get workshops in place, and the procedures needed to get members to participate in those workshops. Also, the financial side of Neopoet needs to get off the ground as quickly as possible after re-launch, although this is really the responsibility of the owners and trustees.

Alternative Role
If not elected, I will whine, moan, rant, rave, and slink away with my tail between my legs.
Just kidding!
Besides continuing to give honest critiques, I would like to lead a workshop in criticism and how to do it, or write some articles on the subject, which I believe is sorely needed. We have already begun some of the preliminaries on this, imo. But the re-launch needs comes first, I believe.
Thanks for reading.
