Background
A 44-year old father and husband. I have a day job which serves as patronage to my calling as a poet. I have served in student councils throughout school, university, and post graduate studies. I have also participated voluntarily and various community projects over the years.
Qualities
I have a deep passion for poetry and a love of all things beautiful. I have taught kindergarten, high school, and bachelor level students as well as trained professionals in TESL. I detest confrontation and abhor injustice. A speedy and fair resolution is something to uphold and at any point should I deem a party to be belligerent and uncooperative in their complaint/issue/request, they shall be referred right quickly another AEC member or someone higher up. I will not tolerate whinging and whining.
Diplomacy
I am very polite but have been known to get red behind the ears. My tendency is to reflect the approach that I receive. Treat me kindly and you will have kindness returned. But if you come with guns blazing then expect to receive the same tone and degree of abuse. That should be fair warning to one and all. Yes, I have served in the capacity of public and media relations officer as well as a bit of translating.
Leadership
I have served a moderator in several poetry sites in the past several years. I have also had experience in leading youth groups and serving in leadership teams that undertook medical missions and educational seminars.
Availability
Based on experience of several years in online poetry sites, I will be online when most of the traffic is not around for the mere fact that I am in a timezone other than that of the majority in the northern hemisphere and time zones. So I usually serve as a graveyard shift sentinel and an early warning device.
Future Direction
I believe there is a promising future for Neopoet mainly because of its vibrant community. And as that community grows and changes I expect developments and changes that would reflect this growth. It is my hope that we do not get too set in our ways to improve ourselves and not to be so avant garde as to throw everything we have invested thus far just to try something that merely tickles our fancy. You are Neopoet, and the future is in you. I believe there is only so much that the AEC can do within the bounds of Neopoet policies and the current community that inhabits the site.
Alternative Role
You will see me interacting with like-minded poets and readers, posting and editing poems.
