Exes and Ohs

She had broken pieces when we met
Some of the shards piercing her still,
revealing a disquiet of scars
Love, the brigand that put them there

When I gave her cut flowers
she had no chance of seeing
the field of understanding and tenderness
from which they came

dear Michael,

I read your poem to my husband, Steven. he said to tell you he understands it completely. I think it is lovely, with an undercurrent of sorrow. good work.

I understand it

Absolutely brilliant. Poetry and flowers are the norm around our house. This is an astounding thing you’re saying here. Very emotionally mature. I really love this.

Great job,
Tim
