The bearing of all or partial weight
Plainly physical, obscured emotional
Desperation is a lonely estate
Reserved for only the saddest devotional

The manor is old as the land it straddles
High walls are crafted from quarried stone
Bearing scars, thousands of battles
Atop hill it stands, content and alone

Time takes a toll and weather erodes
Fortresses need their maintenance too
Repoint the mortar and repair the roads
There’s always a plethora of fixing to do

It takes a good friend, a team, or a crew
To keep up with life and all the self care
Sometimes the thing in the way is just you
Others can urge you and make you aware

It is really something to feel such support
Especially from all of your beautiful words
They prompt me to finish the work I’d abort
Make the self doubt and the fears seem absurd

Hello, Tim,
Such inspiring and uplifting words, and beautiful poetry. A very clever idea to compare a human to a fortress, logical in so many wonderful ways. Both have mighty strengths, but need internal support and care. This, like most of your poetry, is touching, raw, and sincere. Your title is very fitting, your language is warm and inviting, and the theme is universally understood. Again, beautiful poetry!
May Peace and Love be yours!
