JIGSAW

JIGSAW

I saw a jigsaw piece on the ground
Trodden by dirty boots and ignored
If only one could see the bigger picture
In the labyrinth with a woollen cord
Sensitive to every unexpected sound

Facts aggregate to cause congestion
Perhaps by just filling in the blanks
No need to attend any formal lecture
Help received deserves some thanks
To realise the unanswered question

This missing piece sheds some light
Maybe to support a wider perspective
Relieving any self-imposed stricture
No need now for a classical detective
To call upon their intellectual might

To which picture does this belong
A summer scene with a gap in the sky
Or religious holy image from scripture
Perhaps a portrait with just one eye
Either way, the assumption’s wrong

Perhaps it should stay there alone
It had its opportunity to complete
Fantastic imagery is a heady mixture
Odd rhythms with a different beat
As harmonics play in a minor tone

Jigsaw

Wow! What amazing structure and form you've created here! I would think you've worked hard at this and it really is wonderful. The title and the theme are perfect together. I love the feeling of the jigsaw never finding its rightful puzzle. In life, not all the pieces fit just anywhere. This is really fascinating.
Thank you!

I too...

am fascinated by the rhyme scheme and the obvious work you put into it. You make it look easy and I know that it's not! I might probably be able to pull it off a time or two, but it is not something that I would want to do with any regularity!
Very nice work! ~ Geezer.
