Appreciation

I was once immortal,
back before my heart said otherwise;
I was a king
of skill and work and hard, hard play
until the world caught up
to tell me ‘no’.

I walked sacred hills
climbed mountains tall as reaching stars,
swam in oceans so full of life they glowed
and cut my way through jungles
to discovery of ancient empires
old when the world was still young

I trekked through cities meshed in age
I built their frantic networks with light
and lived in others still shining from their birth,
built machines to run them,
crossed towns where locals lazed away their time
and farmlands rolling through centuries of peace,

I ran busy restaurants,
fished climbing rolling swells
planted trees for profit,
ran down white waters
and smooth old rivers languid with age,
streams rushing in from wilderness

I’ve fought and killed and fucked my way
across this planet,
been shot and stabbed, loved and cherished
through decades of wonder and elation
at this strangeness we call life,
survived the very worst,
embraced the very best,
And still, it’s not enough.

So sorry...

to hear of your illness but elated to see your comeback. It sounds like you did a lot of reading while you were down for the count. That is the way I would describe your trek around this world. Either that, or your world tour was done via the internet!
At any rate, I'm glad that you are back for more of this thing called life. Good job! ~ Geezer.

Oooh

I’m sorry you were feeling ill. Poem is spectacular. Check the typo on the title. I dig the theme. I just dig the whole thing ya know.

Do you listen to Spock’s Beard?

Do I listen to Spock's Beard?

Do bears defecate in the woods? Is the sky blue? is the moon made of Green cheese? Oh no wait, that last one's no good - Is water wet?
Thanks for the typo correction. Glad you enjoyed this.

Yeah I think bears go in the woods

To be fair, I don’t know many carnivorous mammalian predators that aren’t human so I haven’t been able to ask one. Pretty cool. Not many people know who they are. I certainly am not well versed in that genre but I keep a few gems in my back pocket. Love them.

Hi Race

You know it matters not how far our journey takes us when it comes to an end I suspect all we will really want is the chance to take one more step. See there? your poem made me think lol

Yes, we do

always want to take just one more step, do just one more thing.
Glad I made you think, lol.
