WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT
WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT
Is it another power cut
Or just a fuse that’s blown
Even the end of the world
Can it really be all over
When the lights go out
Perhaps it’s saving energy
Green is now the thing
Sunlight is still free to all
But dark can be welcome
When the lights go out
It can deepen the mystery
Imagination is left to rule
Discover what is hidden
With all the other senses
When the lights go out
A metaphor for passing
As twilight slowly fades
Sunshine a lost memory
But stars still shine bright
When the lights go out

Yes...
the universe still shines, even after our passing! When the lights go out, our imagination listens for the monsters that we are so sure are pursuing us. A good allusion in the last stanza. ~ Geezer.

So much to ponder
Recently watched a documentary called “A Trip to Infinity”. This poem reminds a lot about some things they discussed. Is the universe infinite? Currently it’s not. 14.5 billion years and then background radiation. What is death? What happens in places where physics doesn’t exactly work. Singularities and the like. All this comes to mind when I read this.
I guess we all have to wait and find out
