Neopoem Of The Week Contest November 13th to November 19th 2022
Overgrown
Tasteful to belong, to sift through foam
watching the residue weave through winds
blown from crusted lips
drifting from eyelashes to sewage
convalescent and bedridden
Breathing you in
And forgetting where we were meant to be
For why is it we become such ploys to one another?
only to release my grip once my vision settles
I can't sleep. your scent radiates these sheets
From your shallow grin to the air leaching onto me
I can’t fathom how
you grant me the satisfaction
Of stealing the weeds which are overgrown
unknowing where mine end
And theirs begin
But you’ve picked them and you breathe them in gracelessly
Sure there’s blood, but I wouldn’t say I’m deflated
since you tore the dam and spat curses on your grave
Only to place daisies on mine
My breathing is shallow
I can’t see much through these low lidded eyes
But I watch you stomp on weeds that once indeed wore me
and the feeling is agonizingly free

Wow
This piece was filled with intense emotion...love gone wrong and it's aftermath...the haunting of your former partner's specter...great job
