Reflections

time plays hide and seek
ready or not, here it comes
hide too long, it flies
***

I've wondered
where my life went
while I hid behind
each door
each decade
the moments and memories
that gathered together
at the end of each year
like simple snowflakes
that melted into my
overflowing, frail scrapbook
my journal, my poetry
my haiku

Hello dear Lavender

Good seasonal reflections. It's always recommended to do some by the end of the day, month, year...etc.
I assume these were beautiful moments/memories if melted in to flourish into such impressive poetry, or at least how I interpreted your lines.
Thank you for sharing!

Hello, Rula,

Yes, for the most part, my memories are happy and I am thankful. It's a little overwhelming that time goes by so fast. leaving me wondering if there was anything I may have done differently to grasp every single moment, but all is well. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts, dear friend.

Yes...

I agree with the first three lines. Sometimes we just want to hide from our troubles. When we do, then time can come in and take away our initiative, leaving us without a choice. I am glad that you have not had too many bad memories and I hope that that the next year is equally and better good to you. You light up our pages with great poetry. Happy Holidays! ~ Geez.

I feel like a dunce!

It took me a few times reading to discover that the first part of your poem is a haiku. please forgive me my blondeness?

Hello, Cat!

It's very subtle...meant to be a prelude to the free verse poem. I thought the final line of the FV would tie in with the haiku.
Thank you, and Happy Holidays!

A senryu

Or a human haiku, for while haikus deal with nature and natural elements, senryu deal with human nature and emotions. Both have same syllable and lines' count.
I thought this v. subtle and clever indeed dear Lavender.
