YOU ARE A SOFT DIAMOND

You are a soft diamond
in the rain and morning light,
spectral at the surface
as dragonflies in flight,
delicate and beautiful
as blown and brindled sedge,
a rippled, dappled stream of light
I watch from water's edge.

Thanks Geezer

You are spot on. Infused through this, and some of my other poems, is the Norfolk (UK) landscape - a distinct geographical area that has a special place for me - where I spent some of the happiest most unhappy years of my life - torn between the responsibility of a wife and young family and my obsession with a young woman who would not spurn me nor would overtly respond to me. But for my ability to subsume my emotions in poetry many lives would have been wrecked. I will post another one after 23 hours - you will see the similarity.
