Lighter Weights
An elderly woman I know well,
carries some burdens with contentment;
compassion and empathy, to be more specific.
She tells me she doesn't mind their weight
because they always give back to her,
but in ways that really cannot be held.
Nevertheless, she welcomes their influence.
Her constant companions; she charges no fare
for the comfortable rooms she keeps for them.

Good title...
[it drew me in, wanting to know more.] Yes, there are those landlords that will keep the troubles of others with no charge because commiseration does indeed, make for good companionship. Empathy and compassion, unless exercised regularly, grow atrophied and weak. This piece starts off with praising for a caring person and ends with the knowledge that she will carry on and give succor to the weary whenever needed. Good job. ~ Geezer.
