People tell me

Grief is not linear.
I don't care.
I want you back.
I want grief,
to be,
Something I read about.

I want it to be,something.
Just,something.
Not this real
stone in my throat I cannot swallow.

Not this, tiring
Not this, hurtful
Not this,TRUE.

And not this anecdote,
We all can
relate to

I refuse to relate,
to this pain.

I won't give it power.
I will not swallow.

This is...

one of the best poems I have read about grief, that I have read in a while. I have only admiration for someone who can put down such an emotion so clearly, in so few lines. I often write simply and sparing words. This is refreshing, although the subject is not. Kudos to you, ~ Geezer.

I keep saying

Grief is painfully simple.

You get it.

Thank you.

I want it to be over though. I want to write poetry about happier things

The word true

Keeps ringing in my head.
I want it to stop being so loud
But, we are,where we are

Thank you for the comment
