The Narrow Line

God knows I'm grateful
For the boys in blue
But we need to realize
Women are officers too

It's always Mr. Officer
Always about the men
But the ladies out there
Are more than a mother hen

There's a million cliches
A hundred sexist jokes
About the girls in uniform
Like they freeze and choke

I'm grateful for the men
I owe you all my respect
All I'm saying is the girls
Have also paid that debt

All officers deserve honor
They are all the defender
But that narrow blue line
Stretches far beyond gender
