Without You

My heart is drumming
As the cannon sounds
Crimson stains the dirt
As my eyes look around

As the numbers dwindle
Your hand grazes mine
We're both wondering
If we'll make it out alive

Stand shoulder to shoulder
Heartbeat tense, feet ready
I promise I'll protect you
If you'll just hold me steady

I could live, you could die
You have to live, I do too
But honestly, I'd rather die
Than live life without you

And here we stand, so serene
As the final cannon did ring
We made it through, me and you
Listen to the Mockingjays sing

Inspired by Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark's story in The Hunger Games.

I love this poem!! I’ve also been in the space where I believe that I will die without a certain person, but life always goes on!! Wish you the best. Hugs!
