To Those Who Walked, Peace Versus War
I hope you have a quiet day,
a kissing breeze,
sweet hours at ease
planting flowers, if you please,
and nothing there to rip it all away.
I hope you have that day.
I pray you have a gentle night,
under stars so deep
they soothe and keep
your soft breath flowing as you sleep
beneath the crescent moon and her earthlight.
I pray you have that night.
And may your memories be amended
to blissful skies and green earth, so splendid
that they embrace you when you close your eyes.
May this be the rich life you come to realize.
To those who walked through the blood of yesternight,
I hope for you this day. I pray for you this night.

Dear Lavender,
This poem is ever so lovely, with just a touch of unrest peeking from under the covers! I cannot pick favorite likes because the poem is a masterpiece, and will not bear the artist's knife... Excellent work!

Really loved your entry
Your words of nature linking to the theme, really touched my soul.
Perhaps if those who push for war, thought of the natural consequences- they'd prefer peace.
Thank you for your wonderful poem.

Hello, Tigger!
Why... thank you! Such a topic renders poetry that almost writes itself.
I appreciate your generosity!

Hello L
I have read this through many times now and sought to find the right words to describe how I feel about this work. I have settled on one of the most basic. 'Nice' This I think succinctly describes it. One, if not the, nicest thing I have read of yours.

Thank you, Alex,
That is very kind of you. Kuddos to whomever suggested this topic. It lends itself to poetry. Wouldn't it be wonderful if those in war torn areas could have a simple, peaceful day without the sights, smells, sounds of death and horror around them? Without walking through the shreds of violence? Just the grace of a simple day.
Thank you, Alex!

To Those Who Walked
There is a profound sense of sincerity jumping out of the page (or screen) that provides hope in today's ugly world.
As someone who experienced a civil war in childhood, the trauma is embedded in those core memories, and we learn to accept them as a harsh reality. It's poetry like this that gives us healing and forgiveness, being sympathy toward those who are currently going through hard times.
Thank you for sharing.

It gets like that
Writing does become hard at times. I have several pieces under way but they just don't want to go where I want them to. One just has to persevere. Alex
