The Sound of the Seagulls

The sound of the seagulls,
Once alien to me,
When washed ashore on this island,
Across the deep blue sea,

Every face a stranger,
And in a foreign land,
Far away from what I knew then,
Afraid of what was planned,

The winds of change still blow,
Take me like a feather,
As I float along on their breeze,
Through storms that I weather,

The tides have been and gone,
Washed away footprints in the sand,
Found peace in the unknown,
As I held my own hand,

One day i’ll find my home,
Find my place amongst the people,
Until then i’ll find comfort in,
The sound of the seagulls.
