Leslie

If I were to leave today.
I’d ride into the mountains.
To a special place I used to go
upon a great black stallion.

With guitar in hand I’d play
there beside the fireside.
Singing songs so real
I never thought I’d sing.

Taking time to offer up
a message to my God!
A pleasant word or two
just from me to Him.

Describing blessings
oh so real,
which He had sent
along my rocky path.

Then cast my body
on the fire.
Until I turned to ash.
My message would be clear
if only in my mind.

I’d worship there
one last time.
To set the record straight
about the things I’d seen
and heard.
A witness to my crimes.
