Some People

Some were like shooting stars,
crashing into me for a brief time
leaving stardust or debris.

Sometimes I just wasn't sure.
It was difficult to hold on to things
constantly in motion while they were moving on.

Here's my analysis:

_Theme:_
The poem explores the theme of fleeting relationships and connections, where people come and go, leaving behind a lasting impact or a trail of uncertainty.

_Imagery and Symbolism:_

- "Shooting stars" is a powerful metaphor for brief, intense connections that burn brightly but fade quickly.
- "Crashing into me" suggests a sense of sudden, unexpected impact, emphasizing the idea that these connections can be both exhilarating and overwhelming.
- "Stardust or debris" represents the dual nature of these encounters, where some leave behind a magical, shimmering residue, while others leave only remnants of what could have been.
- "Constantly in motion" emphasizes the transient nature of these relationships, where people are always moving, changing, and evolving.

Some People

Hello, Michael,
In reading this, so many different people who've come and gone in my life spring to mind. Such is life. Beautiful.
Thank you,

Thanks L! This was definitely a rumination on the transience of people I have know in my life. Interesting to look back on the ones still in our lives, and consider what the difference between the two may have been.

There is...

nothing I can add to what Jack and Lavender have said. I agree that this poem has made me think about the people in my life who have come and left; and the impact I have had on others. Well, done sir. ~ Geez.
