(His name was) Worth

He came to work in the wintertime

and left before summer came

hard to believe he was with us

only a few short months

He shuffled in and out of our hearts

before we knew what happened

the craggy face lined from a million smiles

eyes that lit up like a kid at Christmas time

He was 52 but will always be younger in our minds

he loved the good things in life

spicy foods great music

a rebel with many causes

He would have loved to have been a buccaneer I think

slashing his cutlass through the air

rescuing beautiful maidens

but he couldn't have kept a straight face for it

If he came back for a minute we'd say to him

you went too soon

you didn't give enough of us a chance to love you

but of course we did

He was a professional in the best way

a good friend a kind man

the kind who wasn't afraid to cry

so he won't be offended or embarrassed if we cry for him

Hello, Richard,
My condolences. It sounds like this gentleman made such a beautiful impression on you and others in a very short time. You've written a remarkable tribute to him - a rebel with many causes. What a joy he must have been.
Thank you,
