Sun Kissed Queen
The sun beat down, relentless, painting the lake a shimmering expanse of blue. A figure stood poised at the water's edge, blonde hair catching the light. The tow rope tightened, a promise of exhilaration.
Warm skin softly touched, Moon hangs heavy, breath held close, Whispers in the dark.
With a sudden pull, the skier was lifted onto the glassy surface. The engine's thrum became a steady rhythm as she skimmed across the water, a fleeting vision of summer freedom.
Sweet scent of night bloom, Stolen glances, heat that climbs, Bodies intertwined.
Her laughter echoed across the lake, mingling with the spray that burst like ephemeral jewels in her wake. Each turn was a graceful dance, a moment unbound by gravity.
Bare feet on cool tiles, Sighs escape in humid air, Stars watch from above.
The day softened into dusk, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. The memory of the sun-drenched glide lingered, a perfect counterpoint to the coming night.
Moonlight on bare flesh, Slow caress, a gentle burn, Dawn begins to blush.
The boat returned to shore, the engine quieted. The feeling of flight, though brief, remained. Summer held its breath, anticipating the secrets that darkness would unfold.
Sleepy, sated smiles, Sunlight paints the window pane, Summer love remains.

Dear Mark,
the gentle blush of sultry wonderment flows gracefully through this piece. The beginning lines are like the sweet temptation to linger over each sentence. Yet wanting to read more of a forbidden fruit. My favorite lines are:
"Moonlight on bare flesh, Slow caress, a gentle burn, Dawn begins to blush.
The boat returned to shore, the engine quieted. The feeling of flight, though brief, remained. Summer held its breath, anticipating the secrets that darkness would unfold.
Sleepy, sated smiles, Sunlight paints the window pane, Summer love remains."
The third read-through was quite satisfying, but I am greedy and want more...
It is a gorgeous piece, sweet Mark. thank you for posting this!
I would very much love to see this as poem of the week.
