Red
It has turned bleak,
of darkest dark,
the destruction by
this oligarch
and while we retch
in disbelief
lives are abolished
by this vile thief
throw out the law
of western land,
anarchy has raised
its venal hand
armed men in masks
trample the street,
commanded to rule,
draw fear, browbeat
dictated chaos
floods the cities red,
the United States
has been gunned, and bled

Very well done!
Lavender, this is incredibly powerful. You’ve managed to turn a visceral sense of dread into something rhythmic and striking. The line dictated chaos floods the cities red is a haunting image that stayed with me long after I finished the poem. It’s a brave piece of writing.

Hello, Mark,
Thank you for reading. I realize this is harsh, but I'm not certain how to keep from writing about what is happening here.
My best to you,

Hello Lavendar your poem is an indictment of the current US regime, writers can't remain silent on this.
I would only add the following
Send in the new gestapo, the agents of ICE, policing the fascist state, corrupt and full of vice
Keep on keeping on

Dear Lavender,
the words of your poem have me asking the question: How do we stop him from doing this illegal and immoral thing? How to stop the corruption? I despise what he is doing and view him as a domestic enemy. I am sick to my stomach when I hear the things he is doing! thanks for caring and voicing your strong disapproval!
If you have any advice as to how I can help, please let me know?
very fondly, Cat

Hello, Cat,
Thank you for reading and sharing your valuable thoughts. It has helped me. I spend so much time thinking about all the abuse and injustice, I become frustrated and anxious. I do write to those in Congress, make phone calls, and participate peacefully in organized gatherings. And that is the key for me - peace. To be with caring people who recognize the suffering and injustice felt by others, and who want to spread love and healing energy. Peacefully. The most significant act, though, will be voting in the midterms and putting pressure on level headed leaders to do the right thing.
Again, as always, thank you for reading!

Your poem is very strong, the strongest one I've ever seen from you, but everyone needs to hear this message. It sounds loud and clear, I know that you meant it that way, and I'm glad you said what you said. We're all in a dire predicament, everything is going awry, but I think we can do something about it, we can't stand and watch it pass us by. Speaking out with the voice of poetry is a great place to start. It gets our wheels turning and burns within our minds. We cannot allow blood to flow through the streets, there has got to be a solution to stop this societal pollution. People need to stand and fight, fight for the things that are right. If we let it go now, it will only get worse. I hate to say it, but I need to get more involved I have been apathetic too long.

Hello, John,
Thank you for reading and commenting. I agree with your suggestions to stand up for our rights - peacefully and strong, together. And you are also correct, it helps to write about it.
Take good care,
